A Night with Pink Oyster
A Night with Pink Oyster - Pink Oyster is the new Gothic Americana project by singer Ali Matthews.
Pink Oyster's dark & atmospheric songs feature raw observational lyrics and eerie harmonies. Born in the woods of New England in the USA, Matthews now makes her home in the Manchester creative scene.
After working as a session vocalist for years in the UK and Ireland, this is Matthews's first solo project.
Her jazz roots can be heard in her approach to songwriting & delivery, but the sound combines freak folk, blues, Americana, punk and doo-wop influences.
In celebration of UK Fungus Day (October 8), Matthews will be opening the evening with a reading from the script from her performance Mushroom Language, a camp eco-horror show about eruption, reproduction and decay (and mushrooms).
This gig will feature Honeyfeet's Ellis Davies and theatre company RashDash's Becky Wilkie and guests can expect mushroom canapés on arrival courtesy of the Station South chefs.
The event is part of 'You Are A Mushroom - A day of Love, appreciation & celebration of mushrooms' for UK Fungus Day and is supported by supported by the Fungal Education & Outreach Committee British Mycological Society
