Times Higher Education Award! #THEawards

This week, research led by Dr Mike Wood won the THE Research Project of the year! A big part of this work involved developing a major science communication strand which included the development of Virtual Chernobyl, a touring programme of experiences, that brought people into the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone through virtual reality and an artistic installation. Here's  a little walk through some of the #scicomm elements:

Dr Mike Wood appears on Channel 4 to talk about the field work.

The NERC funded public engagement project, Alienated Life is shown during Manchester Science Festival

a 360 film of our Platform for Investigation at the Museum of Science and Industry in 2015

Step into the Virtual Chernobyl experience using affordable Google Cardboard, the content takes some of the raw research data in the field.

An amazing number of people worked on these elements of the project, including the Creative Tech Team at Media City, part of the University of Salford. We also made a number of films out in Chernobyl, which can be found on our You Tube Channel.
